Nile Special Rugby League, Friday results:

    Kobs 22 Buffaloes 9

    Saturday fixtures:

    Pirates v Mongers (4:00pm)

    Nile v Xfm Impis (4:30pm)

    Heathens v Rhinos (5:00pm)

Nine-time champions Kobs have drawn their intentions to win the 10th rugby league title at the end of the season this year.

Kobs (20pts) on Friday at Kampala Rugby Club whipped hard fighting Buffaloes 22-9 in the Nile Special Rugby League game at Kampala Rugby Club to win the third bonus point that took them six points ahead of rivals Heathens (14pts).

Wonder boy and The Nile Special/USPA  rugby player-of-the-year Justin Kimono scored two tries, Steven Ogwete and Richard Lumu one each while  Joseph Aredo managed  a conversion to hand Kobs a 22-9 victory.

Buffaloes, who were boosted by former Heathens and Rugby Cranes flanker Robert Seguya and upcoming star Philip Wokorach, failed to match Kobs' restlessness.

Wokorach managed three penalties, putting Cranes kickers Anthony Kinene and Benon Kiiza on test.

“We were beaten by experience and I think Kobs were a better side both in experience and game plan execution,” coach Tolbert Onyango stated.

The league continues today (Saturday) with Pirates  hosting  Entebbe Mongers in a tricky tie for the hosts while Heathens face  Rhinos at Kyadondo Rugby Club and  Jinja-based Nile RFC hosts Xfm Impis at the Dam Waterz ground.
