Namubiru bags three Diva Awards

    During the Diva Awards 2011 held Saturday evening at Theatre LaBonita, PAM Awards Artiste of the Year 2011, Iryn Namubiru was declared the Super Diva of the year. 

    Iryn bagged three accolades which included Best R&B diva; Super Diva of the year and the Diva Collaboration of the year 2011, in which she teamed up with Julie Mutesasira. 
     

    Winning 3 awards from Diva awards brings Iryn Namubiru to 7 awards in 2011; she won 4 accolades including Artist of the year from PAM awards in November.

    Juliana Kanyomozi was the biggest contender for this year in Diva awards, she was nominated in 5 categories namely Super Diva, Exceptional Video; Alive again, Outstanding Song with Sanyu Lyange, Afrobeat Diva, and RnB Diva. Juliana took home the Afrobeat Diva award; she last year won the RnB accolade. Previously, Juliana brought home the first ever East African female artist of the year award from Kenya.

    Legendary actor Aloysius Matovu Joy was the Guest of Honor for the event. Angella Katatumba took home the inspiring Diva special recognition award; she was escorted by her father and mother, Mr. Katatumba Bonny and Mrs. Gertrude Katatumba.

    The other big winner of the night was Angela Kalule of the Katikitiki fame who won two awards that included Folk/Band and the outstanding song of the year awards.

    10.    Band/Folk Diva: Angela Kalule
    11.    Gospel Diva: Hindu Asha
    12.    Diva Collabo: Yani by Iryn Namubiru and Julie Mutesasira
    13.    Afrobeat Diva: Juliana Kanyomozi
    14.    Exceptional Video: Butunda by Natasha Sinayobye
    15.    Outstanding Song: Katikitiki by Angela Kalule
    16.    Rising Diva: Liane The artiste
    17.    Super Diva: Iryn Namubiru
