What a pain to me and many of u out there for the loss of a father, brother and friend! Bp.Mike, we can weep bt u did your part! The Heavens should be celebrating your accomplishments while we weep for losing you! Beloved, God introduces us on earth and finally He introduces to the eternity we choose! reckless drivers, potholes and truckers are to blame. Our leaders are up there just eating and squandering the money instead of dealing with the situation on our roads. Not until it happens to their own kind or family member then they will wake up to smell the roses.

The long awaited railway from Mombasa to Uganda could do a lot in deconjesting the raods by reducing Trailers, thus reducing accidents on the roads; when does it begin? May God rest those souls in eternal peace.

BISHOP JOHN MICHEAL LIVED A LIFE THAT MATTERED & THIS HAS GIVEN ME A VERY BIG CHALLENGE.
TO ME HE WAS MORE THAT A BISHOP, MORE THAN A FRIEND, MORE THAN A FATHER. HE WAS MY GURDIAN ANGEL.
PEOPLE ARE BORN, THEY LIVE, THEY ARE LOVED & CARED FOR AT THE END OF IT ALL WEN THEY DIE TEARS ARE SHADE & AFTER A WHILE THEY ARE FORGOTTEN BUT I WILL NEVER FORGET YOU, NOT EVEN DEATH CAN PUT AWAY MY LOVE FOR YOU.

Our most heartfelt sympathies to the families of all who were killed in this devastating crash. I pray God will wrap each one of you in his loving arms and comfort you in the difficult days ahead. As we honor these great men of God there is comfort in knowing they are in the presence of their Heavenly Father. For those left behind, know that we will do our part to continue the great work that they have begun. We will continue to work diligently to save marriages wherever God calls us as these pastors were doing before us.

We shall miss the Man who taught every one how to work and make money. He taught me the principles of saving from the little i earned. RIP Mugerwa

Mr. of roads and transport, be the man to make a difference. SAVE LIVES.Widen roads, put in place driving speeds/humps, traffic lights, cars+trucks should have lights. SAV LIVES!!
| Entebbe
Dear fellow believers, I feel so sorry for the death of our bretheren. In all this let us not blame anybody because when God plans an event to take place, nothing can hinder Him. The drivers may have been good, the road perfect, but something else could have triggered that event. Nor should we blame God''s prophet because he reported what he saw in the vision. My advice to all my brothers and sisters is that we should always be repenting of any sin in our lives because any time God may call you to head for either eternal happiness or torment.
| KAMPALA
''''Death where is thy sting... where Grave thy Victory, I triumph still when thou Abides with me'''' May the Good Lord comfort the families of the deceased Men of God and give them Peace that surpasses human understanding. By and by they will know why things happened that way, Amen!

Its a terrible loss and we all miss Bishop John Michael Mugerwa. The big question is why should God reward such committed servants of God, morever after a Godly service (crusade) with a mysterious death? Can any one help to understand this? We need a lot of wisdom to understand God''s ways! May their Soul rest in eternal peace. Joseph M.M. Kampala

Its a tragedy to us mankind, especially those of us who knew one or all those 4. I''m happy that God called him and made his announcement/ revelation 4 weeks before he died, through Bishop Sserwadda, that Bishop Mugerwa will not complete the Church was building.... and that he should prepare a replacement soon to complete it. So, even if the drivers were of the highest standard, at that time things will have gone wrong to them, but as planned by God.
| Entebbe
it is so up sad that it happened in that way anyway we know it is very difficult to bear such situation but I just encourage every one to be aware of death that any time it can occur so we should not blame the driver or the Government but we have to only move rightly with God such that what ever happens good or bad we thank him....but why all great preacher in Uganda are dieing in motor accident.
| uganda
This is really sad news but the driver is also to blame though dead b''se one should be careful to see whats in front before overtaking en the gov''t should make roads for those big cars b''se those small cars cannot see in front when the big cars are there

My heart goes out to the families. My comment though, is in favor of the trailers. From reading the story and comments from a friend of mine that was at the scene minutes after, bro Paul the driver of the mini van had a huge lapse of judgement and as a result this accident happened. I have driven on that road several times, but this one time i could not to realize that the Trailer drivers are extremely disciplined. They drive with a lot of patience and grace, it is the Taxis and other road users that cause them to inevitably have this serious accidents. In one of the comments someone said that our drivers need to be trained, i agree, its not enough to know how to move a car, there is a lot to driving than just moving a car. Many of the drivers learn from the taxi park, or the garage and then get the licenses without going to driving school... I remember when i went to the UK in 1990, i thought i would just go on the streets and drive, better yet, just trade in my Ugandan DL for the British one... I was shocked when actually they said that i even had to go through driving school. What i learnt there i still use to this day - things like responsibility on the road, courtesy, road etiquette in general. Yes we need better roads and stuff, but i also know this spot, one of the best in road conditions, had nothing to do with the road, normal course of events that were misread by my bro Paul... Let us all learn from this and other mistakes. GBU.

We are so so so so sorry to hear about all the losses, maybe we could take the photos down of the vehicle, the families don''t need to see that! Let''s keep the encouragement and hope spreading to all other beautiful families. Let''s lift them up in prayer..let''s bless them as they have blessed all of us, and let''s keep the fire going for saving and strengthening marriages.

This is a wake up call for everyone of us and espercially our leaders in Africa to begin tackling the most important issues that faces our nations. People being allowed to drive without having to go through a proper driving school. We need a proper system in place to ensure road safety is adhere to by both motorist and pedestrian. Speed limited to be introduced with road patrols checking on over speeding. When we deal with all the corruptions in the system, there will be enough money to take care of all these without any problem. Our condolences to the families of these ministers who died doing the Lord''s work. Our heart and prayer to anyone who has been affected by this huge lost.

Leo Godzich was a true man of God who I had the blessing of seeing at my home church Town Worship Center. We have lost a faithful man of God as born-again believers as well as Ugandans because he has helped many people concerning marriage and helped orphans. But i really think that we should not blame the government because God is the one to decide and i believe in my heart that God has power to stop death. And as i was reading the news paper called Bukedde, i read that pastor Seruwadda had given the prophesy in Pr Mugerwa''s church that they should look for his successor because God was to take him away. do anyone there know about this? So we should believe that God wanted him home no matter how. We are praying for the family, church, school and the ministry as well.

Now this is another waste of life. Judith Nabakoba should come out and express Police sadness and commitment to reducing fatalities on our road. She needs to apologise to the families and the nation. Also the following needs to happen:
1.National Road Safety Conference comprising of NRA, Ministry of Transport,Police / Traffic, Drivers Association, Vehicle Owners,Licencing authorities, Ministry of Tourism (Road accidents block tourists from visiting to come up with strategy of reducing these deaths.
2.I was once caught speeeding (doing 43 mph in a 40mph zone) and I was sent on a forced advanced driving course for which I had to pay. Subjects covered included road safety, psychology of motorists , the law etc and I can guarantee you after what I went through I have not broken any speed limit since then three years down the road.
3.Walk to Ork campaigners and all those Mabira activists should add this to their agenda.
We can win the war against this wanton waste of life.

It so sad to keep on loosing lives on our Roads because of reckless truck drivers, who most of the time ,drive after consuming alcohol, mairungi and Ganja, they are always in a hurry ,Government should stop heavy trucks like trailers from moving on our roads before 10pm let them move especially jinja road to Malaba only between 10pm to 6pm so that other users can move during the day up to 10pm latest. may be it would limit death from trailers,
may the families of the departed brothers be comforted by the God whom they were serving.
| Majanji
Honestly, the government must wake up- we have lost many many citizens and non citizens on this mabira/jinja road. The government should emulate the west and see how they maintain their roads. This minimizes on deaths. The standard of driving schools should be scrutized and looked into. If people drove, knowing there is defensive driving, obey the traffic laws - this would minimize accidents. the distance between cars in uganda is not observed at all. 3/4 meters apart kind off helps one to escape. the ministry of registry of vehicles should be probed as well. we are tired of losing our citizens on the damn roads in uganda and we lost so many people in the war. am pissed off.
| nabingo
man of God,....................... we wil always remember what you have done in this country. many pastors here in Uganda have fooled whites that they are helping orphans but have bought big cars, built big houses in muyenga but you have been a role model in my life. built over four orphanages, two schools so far, and many more were to come.
bishop serwada went to katwe three weeks back with a prophetic message saying " i''ve come to pray for the pastor who will stay in this place. i knew few people would clap there hands but those who will still be present will tell me. its not me speaking but he who sent me" we have REAL prophets in Uganda. may his soul R.I.P
| Kampala
Having moved on Ugandan roads by bus and taxi many many times, I can state with considerable authority that over 95% of deaths on our roads is caused by poor driving ethos. Yes,our road are generally bad. But, many Ugandan drivers take driving as a SPORT, and something they can do to impress their on-lookers or passengers. I have thought of a special training for bus and taxi drivers( or PSVs drivers generally), but it is very expensive to implement because it involves putting the drivers out of work for at least two weeks. It also requires hiring expensive equipment which we probably do not have in the country at the moment. I think that the drivers would come out with a different mind set on the road. Some might choose not to drive altogether.

Pastor Leo Godzich was an amazing man of God teaching the Kingdom of God and helping restor marriages around the world, Pastor Leo leaves behind a wonderful wife and 3 daughters. I just had the pleasure of working for him during an international marriage conference where thousands of people came together to strengthen, restore, and revitalize their marriages. This was a man of great integrity. Also with him another great man who served his city as a civil servant, great husband and father of 4 year old little girl. Both these men went to Africa to support and bring the message of Love and hope to Uganda, please Honor these 2 American men of God who had love for the people of Uganda.

This is very sad may their souls rest in peace. Its too sad, we lose so many people on our roads and the government is not doing anything serious to address the situation. Its not just the government though, drivers in Uganda are reckless and don't think about their actions before they take them. Roads in Uganda are narrow and bad, with many corners, hills, valleys, dark spots because of the nature of terrain. Additionally most cars in Uganda are cheap hence light and have less grip on the road so we have to limit the speed. We need a serious overhaul of our road safety system in Uganda. Its just ridiculous. We the people need to be more vocal too, drivers are killing us and our loved ones. Many drivers are unqualified due to the lax approach to road standards and safety both by the people and the regulatory bodies in Uganda. Many of these accidents can be avoided.
May their souls rest in peace!

The biggest loss to the Christian family in 2011. We need to be carefull while driving. Life has no spare parts. All drivers should have patience while on the road because most of the accidents that happen are caused by reckless driving and overspeeding. If we dont change our habbits on the raod we will continue dying on the road. Drive slowly, steadly so that you can reach your destination safely.May thier soul rest in peace.

It is really a shaking for this nation. Righteous Leaders exalt the nation. Uganda has had along record of Leadership Crisis, with many branded corrupt. Some in Market Place and others in Churches or faith based organizations (NGO & Private), they are given funds and donations for the poor in the villages and slums but never deliver. FELLOW Ugandans, the message of John the Baptist as also prophesied by Isaiah the prophet(Isaiah 40:1-8), PREPARE THE HIGH WAY, level the hills, rise the valleys, straighten the crooked paths, smoothen the rough surfaces is very urgent for both the HEARTS of Ugandans and the NATIONAL INFRASTRURE (Roads, Hospitals, Markets, etc). Every one needs to take responsibility. WE WILL MISS BISHOP MUGERWA, a father, mentor and coach of Ugandans.

sorry for those people who died in the fatal accident. But those people might not be dead if their deaths were intended by some one who had consulted the spirit medium. Because here in Adjumani 2 months ago a local artist died in motor accident and was buried but recently appeared twice to his life time friend. The friend alerted the boy''s parents about the incidence. The parents then sought the help of a witch doctor to recover the boy and indeed the boy was recovered and is currently being held in Adjumani catholic mission.

All Ugandan roads especially highways (if there are any), are potential death traps! Drivers in Uganda have no regard for human life.
Ministry of transport together with traffic police should own up to the carnage. They are squarely responsible for unleashing this death squad of "drivers" on innocent citizens.
Please visitors and fellow Ugandans living aboard, take this caution very seriously whenever you risk to drive in Uganda. As for our brothers and sisters (relatives) in Uganda, may God help keep you safe.

I never knew Bishop Mugerwa at a personal level, but the testimonies of the lives he touched give a clear picture of the great work he did for the Lord. I will never forget Bishop Mugerwa''s big, generous and candid smile on that Mukisa gw''ekibuga program. He would extol, beg, encourage, cajole and invite us mortals to change our ways. While he is not here with us, at whatever point the good lord will choose to replay his video Michael will certainly have a great time seeing the amount of God''s work he did here on earth. He loved his wife, he loved his life, BUT he SERVED HIS LORD FLAMBOYANTLY. REST IN ETERNAL PEACE. Fuel tankers, trailers, and other heavy vehicles should be allowed to move from 10PM -4Am and let other passenger service vans, small cars and buses be on road during the busy hours of morning, day and evening.
Secondly driving permit issuance should be on merit not money. We lack quality drivers because of inadequate training and greed for money among driving schools.

While we wait for the road to be made dual carriage (I hope that happens in our lifetime), we need to do something about our driving. All drivers should be more careful. Why attempt to overtake two long haul trucks at such a spot?? Again, drivers should be courteous, if you realise someone needs to come back to the lane, what does it cost you to let him/her? The road might even be made triple or quadra carriage, but as long as drivers are selfish, impatient, un-courteous, poorly trained...... we shall continue dying. The urgent thing that govt can do for now is label the danger spots on all (narrow)highways, install speed cameras.....plus of course remove corrupt traffic officials from the roads because they are not helping at all!

Its unfortunate that we have dearly lost such mighty and important people in the world though its the other way round to God. Its so painful, the govt of Uganda and the Mps should find a way out of reducing accidents. Its too much, for how long are we going to continue loosing such people. Caution must be given to especially the trailer drivers who don''t respect other road users. They should value other people''s lives.
May their souls rest in the place where their God has organised

How many more must perish before the Government wakes up? This is hapenning and you read about Govt officials embezzling Billions!!! Yes the roads are narrow, full of potholes, too much traffic and vehicles which are un road worthy (facts), but why blame the roads. Blame the Politicians and the Civil servants who are payed to plan for the development of the country. Cant they see that this road was designed for a post independent era, a Uganda when the population was a fifth of what it is now and was not exposed to the outsides of it''s individual village lives as is the case now. All environmental planners, traffic officers and regulators, MP''s and Ministers should be put to test on these accidents. Much as corruption is the issue now, the innocent and reckless loss of lives in Uganda should be a matter of great concern. The death of these 4 people is going to impact greatly on the lives of so many people globaly. Please Govt do something. Every Ugandan who has a driving licence should be re-tested because any competent driver cannot be so devoid of judgement as these drivers depicted in this scenario. Why attempt to overtake two trailers when even overtaking one small saloon car can be of grave consequencies if enough deliberation is not taken prior to execution of the move? What kind of madness is this and who taught this man how to drive a car??
| Trondheim
Whether a road is small or bad etc, the main cause of accidents is driver actions. In driver training, a driver is expected to anticipate danger. So in this case a series of actions by the different drivers caused the accident. the trailer driver saw the van overtaking and failing to make it. he should have given a big gap so that the overtaking driver could get a chance to return to the lane. The overtaking driver also miscalculated. Other questions are about the TECHNICAL conditions of the vehicles. Were all the lights working, were the drivers attentive? How tired were the drivers?
THESE ARE UNFORTUNATELY THE SYMPTOMS OF POOR DRIVER TRAINING IN UGANDA.It is too easy to get a driving permit compared to the costs of accidents!! We need better training, costlier penalties and of course the roads weed work but hey even some developed countries have small roads with similar traffic. The difference is driver training!!
| Kampala
The issue at hand is poor roads and failure to enforce road safety standards. And I think this is perpetuated by people holding office without taking responsibility.
| Kampala
Let God comfort the families of the deceased. Amen

Am wondering and confused. Is this Bishop John Micheal Mugerwa, who used to have a programme for the Singles and Married on Impact Radio every sundays afternoon or someone else?
We shall really miss him if he is the one.

The only good thing is that he prepared his soul for eternal joy in Christ Jesus. We as the Church give thanks to God for taking His servant to eternal rest although we are praying for the comfort that come from the hope in Christ Jesus to feel the void he has left in the family and ministry. We celebrate his labor.

Apart from recklessness as Police may claim, Ugandan roads are ashamingly narrow! Busy roads like the Malaba/Buasia-Kampala Highway should not only be wide, but also dual-carriage so as to minimize accidents. May their soul rest in Peace.

Jinja road is so badly constructed, it should be mad dual carriege(two way traffic)According to Jinja police spokesperson, Samsom Lubega “As the driver overtook, he realized there was oncoming traffic so he decided to squeeze into a narrow gap between the two trailers" he ran out of options

Traffic Police should come up with another method to reduce accidents. This should include avoiding collecting money from drivers and make sure the speed and capacity Lording used is acceptable. By so doing they will maintain law and order.

We will miss Bihsop John Michael Mugerwa for he has been a such a great impact to the body of Christ in Uganda, may their souls rest in peace.

It is so painfully that everyday Uganda is losing, very important people on road accident. This is simply because some people are not doing their work. My advise to IGP and the MPS to table in a bill in parliament for Health and safety standards which will improve the safety of the public. Also on motor ways CCTV cameras should be installed to Pin all the bad road users. The Uganda government has invested a lot of million of shillings in so called traffic policemen, but no returns so we better go with IT were will get the results. And should be an independent board from police to avoid the conflict of interest.

Woh my their souls rest in peace why do track drivers burry vans? Let the gov''t get special roads to big trucks.

Trailers are responsible for many accidents on our roads.Overtaking is allowed depending on the judgement of the driver. But trailers, buses and other heavy vehicles do not respect other road users. Traffic police should be hard on them.
May the soul of the deceased rest in eternal peace

Its because of the small roads, Uganda Jinja Iganga road should be expanded to four lane at same size from jinja upto Iganga rather from kampala to Malaba to Busia with same size.
My they rest in eternal peace.
