DISTURBING THE PEACE OF THE MINISTER

State minister for privatisation and investments who recently took leave of her duties to pursue an international relations course in the US, is suing a local newspaper for sh500m for publishing a defamatory story about her.

In a letter to the newspaper dated August 1, 2018, Anite's lawyers M/s Arcadia advocates, noted that the article was published in the newspaper of 2nd to 8th May 2018 on pages one and eight under the title ‘Anite runs to Museveni over sh29b bribe.'

"This is, therefore, to demand that you henceforth retract the said story/publication, issue and publish an apology, the text of which must be approved by our client before publication. In addition, we demand for payment of the sum of sh500m for the damages suffered to date," the letter reads.

Anite, a student of International Relations and Diplomacy at the prestigious Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy at Tufts University, recently requested for permission to take leave from Parliament and Cabinet to attend classes in the U.S.

Before her departure to the US, Anite handed her office to state minister for planning David Bahati who is currently juggling the two posts.
