As the curtains fall on this year's National Post Primary Baseball and Softball Championships at Kakira Sugar Works grounds in Jinja today, the event is AVRS's to lose!
The Mpigi outfit have virtually owned the initial stages of the championships in both baseball and softball, scoring runs from nothing and surprisingly, it is only East Cardinals that have managed to score runs against a rather AVRS flawless defense.
Boasting of sallying pitchers, Joseph Drotti ‘s side defeated East Cardinals 11-5, beat Ndejje High School 15-0, defeated Kisiki College 28-0 in the Boy's baseball. They have nontheless dorminated proceedings in the Girls category registering two wins, deafeating St. Peters Nsambya 27-0 and Shoana 18 -4.
"The event has moved on smoothly and certainly we hope for a remarkable end to the meet. We can't thank enough Kakira Sugar Works for hosting us" said Denis Kasozi, chairman Uganda Baseball and Softball Association.
East Cardinals and Kakira SS are also contenders in this year's championships where MLB affiliated officials are on the lookout for talent as there are vast opportunities in baseball playing nations outside Uganda.
