Kagame takes oath, lauds African leaders

The president said the presence of African leaders is a sign of unity and gives the region strength.

President Paul Kagame said the presence of the African leaders for his inauguration is a sign of unity and gives the country strength.

He said a section of Rwandan leaders and citizens have worked incredibly to build the nation from its previous devastated form to being a developed country.

He said in development, there have been inclusion of gender issues have also been included, saying currently ‘women and men' have equal rights.

During his swearing for his third term as Rwanda's president at Amahoro Stadium in the Gasabo district of Kigali, Rwanda, Kagame said he is ready to continue serving the Rwandans in different spheres of life, but what is important is self-wish.

The swearing in is being attended by different heads of state such President Yoweri Museveni, Uhuru Kenyatta, Salva Kiir and Ethiopia's Prime Minister and former President Benjamin Mukapa.

Kagame said: "Currently Rwanda defines no one as its enemy."
