The KCCA defender who missed Cranes' 3-0 victory over the Amavubi Stars last weekend, has been undergoing trials with South African side Ajax Cape Town.

He is expected to join his teammate in today's training session at StarTimes stadium,Lugogo. His return could help to beef up the national side ahead of the return leg slated for this weekend in Kigali.

The winner between Uganda and Rwanda in the return leg will qualify for the finals that will be held in Kenya next year.

Cranes eliminated South Sudan 5-1 on aggregate to reach the final round while Rwanda ejected Tanzania on away goals rule.

Other than the 2009 edition in Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) which Uganda missed, the Cranes have featured in the other biannual tournaments in Sudan, South Africa (2014) and Rwanda (2016) without going beyond the group stage.
