KAMPALA - Night cricket is worth more than one could imagine and with players trekking all the way from Pakistan and India is a bit telling of how much substance and significance this year’s KBSC Premier League Season 5 carries.

It is now all systems go and just hours for the event to bowl off tonight as PAK Stallions seek to defend the tittle they won last year after a 41 runs victory over Afridi Xi and perhaps the latter will aim at making amends this season.

The mood was further raised Thursday night during a final pre-tournament presser under the flood lights at the lugogo oval when the organizers unveiled the jerseys for the participating teams. Some of the 16 participating teams received the jerseys through their captains.

The four-week contest is well oiled courtesy of Rainbow Paints who have injected an estimated fee of around sh120m and with everything now in place, expect a smooth tournament filled with fanfare at the end of the day.

“I can report that we are good to go and would love to remind people that the contest is also about developing fanfare, pulling fans and friendship under of course a competitive environment” said Sanjiv Patel, chairman organizing committee yesterday at lugogo.

Now because of Rainbow Paints' timely boost towards the tournament, this year’s contest assumes the name KBSC Premier League Rainbow Cup.

Interestingly, the teams that don’t qualify for the knockout stage of the Rainbow Cup will still compete in the super over contest.

The night cricket show piece is set to be played at 16 overs in the group stages and then 20 overs at the knockout round.

Sh15m awaits the winners and Sh8m for the second best team witH trophies and more at stake.
