Uganda, Burundi,Rwanda,Tanzania, Sudan, South Sudan and Kenya have confirmed participation

Using sports as a means to foster and promote community policing and cooperation, Uganda will host the first ever East African Police Chiefs Cooperation Organization (EAPCCO) games in August.

The games that will be played under the theme, "promoting comunity policing and regional cooperstion through sports" will be launched in Kampala on Friday.

According to the Uganda Police Public Relations officer, Hassan Kasingye, the launch is aimed at raising funds for the games.

"The main objective of this launch is to ensure that we raise funds that will enable the smooth running of the games," he said.

The games are scheduled to start August 24-29 at the Uganda Christian University (UCU), Mukono and Kigo shooting Range.

Participating countries will be expected to take part in Boxing, athletics, shooting, football, netball, taekwondo and volleyball.

Uganda, Burundi,Rwanda,Tanzania, Sudan, South Sudan and Kenya have confirmed participation in the six day event.
