Entebbe road crash leaves many injured

No deaths were reported but several of the victims sustained serious injuries.

ACCIDENT


KAMPALA - As many as 10 passengers of a commuter taxi heading to Kampala from Entebbe were injured in a nasty crash along the road.

According to eyewitnesses, a grader that was looking to join the highway from Akright Estates in Namulanda developed mechanical problems and rammed into the taxi (UAB 610R) that was parked temporarily by the roadside.

The driver of the grader reportedly lost control of the vehicle before hitting the stationary taxi.

No deaths were reported but several of the victims sustained serious injuries, including taxi driver John Walakira who was rushed to Valve Medical Center in Bwebajja.

The injured passengers were rushed to Kisubi Hospital and Entebbe General Referral Hospital for treatment.

The driver of the grader took off, according to eyewitnesses.

The ill-fated grader and mangled taxi were towed to Kisubi Police Post as police launched a search for the fugitive grader driver.
