Media center transferred from Ministry of Presidency to Ministry of ICT

The Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of the Presidency Deborah Katuramu in a letter to the Director of the Uganda Media Center Ofwono Opondo dated June 23, 2017 confirmed the transfer.

The Uganda Media Center has been officially transferred from the Ministry of Presidency to the Ministry of Information Communication and Technology. 

The Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of the Presidency Deborah Katuramu in a letter to the Director of the Uganda Media Center Ofwono Opondo dated June 23, 2017 confirmed the transfer.

"Following the restructuring of Ministries,  Departments and Agencies, it was found necessary to transfer the Uganda Media Center from the Office of the President to the Ministry of ICT with effect from July 1st 2917," Katuramu wrote.

Katuramu on behalf of the staff in the office of the President extended her appreciation to the staff of the media center for the tremendous contribution towards informing and educating the population about what is happening in the Government machinery from time to time through the various communication channels.

She particularly commended them for providing stewardship in producing a magazine at every national function and for the different platforms they created to link the office of the President and the RDC's who their ears on the ground are. "They have regularly received updates in terms of policies, programmes, emergencies and they in turn inform the population," Katuramu said.

Ofwono Opondo confirmed the transfer stating it was in compliance with the reorganization of government by President Yoweri Museveni last year. He also confirmed that the ICT Permanent Secretary Vincent Bagiire had received them.
