Woman seeks help for heart operation

According to Dr. Tom Mwambu, a senior cardiologist with the Uganda Heart Institute, Namutwa was diagnosed with hypertension with ascending aortic aneurysm and requires an operation to reduce the swelling of the vessels. Her condition is caused by high blood pressure.

A 56 year old woman, Monica Namutwa is seeking sh164m to undergo a heart operation in India.

According to Dr. Tom Mwambu, a senior cardiologist with the Uganda Heart Institute, Namutwa was diagnosed with hypertension with ascending aortic aneurysm and requires an operation to reduce the swelling of the vessels. Her condition is caused by high blood pressure.

Documents seen by New Vision, show that Dr P.V Naresh, a consultant at Heart Institute surgeon at Yashoda Hospital in Hyderabad is ready for the operation.

Right now Namutwa cannot sleep, the swollen vessel keeps on pressing the heart so she has to keep seated. She is not allowed to walk or get excited. Her pressure for the lower body is higher than that of the upper body," said Baz Waiswa, a son.

Waiswa calls upon on the public to help his mother go for treatment to have another chance.

"We are requesting friends and the public to help us with the little they have to take mum for operation. She is really in pain and it is heartbreaking because right now she is prone to infection," he said.

He said the money would cover expenses for her treatment, transport and up-keep for her and the accompanying nurse.
