BRIDE & GROOM EXPO 2017

The Kenya Tourism Board (KTB) and its tag line ‘Tugende eKenya' will be one of the most memorable of the exhibitors of  just concluded bride and groom expo.

The tag line, which is borrowed from the Ugandan local dialect, Luganda, is translated as ‘let us go to Kenya'.

It was catchy and simple, but most memorable was just how easy it was to chat up the KTB guys. They adorned the Masai outfit and chatted up literally everyone and even managed to mumble a few words with every flier given.

"Nyabo, tugende eKenya," a woman always said as soon as you reached the Bride and Groom expo that was recently held at Uganda Manufactures Association (UMA) Lugogo.

They knew the stakes were high and they were here to fight for space and attract newlyweds to a honeymoon in Kenya. It therefore did not come as a surprise that KTB took the prize for best exhibitor in this year's bride and groom expo, organised by Vision Group.

And even as they accept the award, their towering tall Masai fella did not hesitate to showcase Kenya. As Kenya boy group, Sauti Sol's Sura-yako was played, he burst into the iconic Masai dance.

Soon the crowd and one of the day's MCs, Siima Sabiti was nodding back in dance.

They walked away with a free advert in the Vision Group wedding magazine, Bride and Groom, and a free stall next year. Magical Kenya, as they called it, had come to fight for a place here, and they took no prisoners.
