Muslims urged to look out for the moon

If the moon is not sighted on Saturday evening, Eid El Fitri will automatically be celebrated on Monday

The Director of Sharia, Uganda Muslim Supreme Council Sheikh Yahaya Ibrahim Kakungulu has advised Muslims in Uganda to look out for the moon during the evening of Saturday 24th June 2017 because this will be the 29th day of the Holy Month of Ramadhan.
 
"If the moon is sighted during the evening of Saturday 24th June, this year's Eid El Fitri will be celebrated on Sunday 25th June 2017" Sheikh Kakungulu said during a press briefing today at the UMSC Headquarters Old Kampala.
 
He noted that if the moon is not sighted on Saturday evening, Eid El Fitri will automatically be celebrated on Monday 26th June 2017.
 
Sheikh Yahaya Kakungulu appealed to those who sight the moon or possess reliable information to contact UMSC Headquarters Old Kampala immediately.
