The NGO wants to build a pavilion for the spectators who will be at the grounds

The Yaeger Development Agency plans to start a youth soccer league following the completion of the first phase in the refurbishment of the football pitch at Kibuli Police Children's School.

The president of the non-profit, Devin Yaeger, announced future plans to create a youth soccer league during a press briefing at the school on Monday afternoon.

"With the development of the football pitch we hope to partner with Edgar's Youth Programme to start a youth league that will not only benefit the children of this school but the community as a whole."

He hopes to help build bonds and relationships among members of the community through the project.

"If these children can play together, eat together and break bread together then it creates an element of trust among the community."

"The idea is to help integrate children of the Police and children of the community which will help with civic engagement."

"If there is a crime committed against one of the parents he or she may say, my children play with the children of the Police so, it's okay to report to the Police because they are good people," he said.

In the next phase of the project the NGO wants to build a pavilion for the spectators who will be at the grounds.

The football pitch that was given a face lift at the beginning of the year is not yet fit for use but in the next two to three months it will be ready.

Head teacher Hajji Swaibu Kawoya has admitted his pupils can't wait to start utilising the facility.

"The kids are very happy about the playground, they used to play on a patchy and soggy field with this refurbishment we are now celebrating a very good playground," he said.
