JUDICIARY TRANSFERS

A number of High Court judges and magistrates have been transferred.

In a circular released by the Judiciary, Joseph Murangira is among the 22 judicial officers who have been transferred from their old stations to new ones in a bid to fill the gaps in some courts and improve service delivery.

According to the circular, the transfers are also intended to rotate officers who have stayed in their stations for more than two years and to place others in appropriate stations.

The circular also indicates that the transfers were done in consultation with Chief Justice Katureebe.

"The redeployment of judges in the various High Court divisions and circuits is to take effect from August 15 2017," reads part of the statement released to the media Wednesday.

However, the judicial officers are expected to clear all the pending cases which are in advanced stages of hearing, pending judgments and rulings in their current stations before moving to the new stations.

The magistrate transfers will take effect on July 1, 2017 while Muse Musimbi, the only transferred registrar, will take up his new posting on June 12, 2017, to allow him time prepare for his retirement in the last half of the year.
