Police in Kabale district have arrested three people in connection with the murder of a 20-year-old man identified as Gilbert Manige that took place in Kahama Runyanjoka Cell, Kabale Municipality on June 5.

Kigezi regional police spokesperson Elly Maate said the arrested suspects allegedly assaulted the victim, claiming he was a thief.

He said a postmortem examination was carried before Manige's body was being transported to his home area in Ndarura Village, Rubaya sub-county in Kabale for burial.

"We have the suspects in our cells, but I can't reveal the names so as not to jeopardize investigations into the incident."

On Monday, Manige's lifeless body was found lying near a feeder road to Kahama Church of Uganda in Kabale Municipality.

Maate told New Vision the murdered man had two deep cuts on his right arm without anything to identify him.

"He was later identified by relatives when the body was in mortuary at Kabale Referral Hospital.

The victim was found wearing a white vest and blue pair of trousers.

"Investigations are underway and soon the arrested suspects will be aligned in the courts of law," added Maate.
