He said that economy should never be mixed with politics. He amused MPs when he said that he was doing business with Opposition Chief Whip Cecilia Ogwal although they are political opponents.

Uganda's economy is in good shape, President Yoweri Museveni has said.

"People have been saying the economy is very bad. Poor people, they have no eyes to see the surplus electricity, the President said.

He said that economy should never be mixed with politics. He amused MPs when he said that he was doing business with Opposition Chief Whip Cecilia Ogwal although they are political opponents.

"If you're a good manager like myself. You never mix politics with the economy," Museveni warned.

"Cecilia Ogwal has something big somewhere. We are now very friendly. She has something but we couldn't touch it. I am happy that her factory is creating employment for our people," the President said.

Delivering State of the Nation Address in Kampala on Tuesday, Museveni said that an economy that has got surplus electricity cannot be in a bad state.

The President said a number of roads have been constructed without borrowing. They include: Kampala-Mityana Kampala-Masaka and Kampala-Karuma-Gulu-Kafu among others.

"As I speak today, we have investors for steel, fertilizers, coffee, milk, cooking oil, cotton," he said.
