There was drama at Nakawa Chief Magistrate on Thursday morning after the suspects in the murder of late Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIGP), Andrew Felix Kaweesi, appeared in court. The suspects' spouses threw children to prison warders as they (suspects) were led to cells.

In the process, prison warders cocked their guns to scare off the furious women thus causing panic at court.

Work came to a standstill and several magistrates in open courts were seen running to their chambers. Other workers looked through windows to see what was going on.

The suspects' spouses about 20 in numbers all had children claiming they had no capacity to take care of them since they had no jobs.

"You arrested our husbands who were looking after our families; now we have no sources of income to look after the children," Nakimuli Jamila, one the women noted.

Due the fracas, suspects were straight away driven back Luzira Prison as, police forced the women out of court premises.

Earlier, State attorney Rachael Nabwire informed court that inquiries into the case were still ongoing, prompting her to ask the presiding grade one magistrate Noah Ssajjabi to remand the accused to Luzira Prisons until June 15, 2017, when they will re-appear in court to know the status of their investigations.

Prosecution alleges that the accused and others still at large on March 17, 2017 conspired to murder Kaweesi, his body guard Kenneth Erau and driver Geoffrey Mambewo.

It further alleges that the accused and others still at large with intent to influence government and intimidate the public for social, economic, and political gains involved themselves in the acts of terrorism.
