Job opening for a Laboratory Technologist

Joint Clinical Research Centre (JCRC) is a not for profi t limited liability company which was established in 1991 by a collaborative eff ort of the Ministries of Health, Defence and Makerere University College of Health Sciences.

It was established to address the very serious problem of HIV/AIDS at the ti me. JCRC's core acti viti es include Medical Research, Training and Provision of Health Care Services.

Position Title: Laboratory Technologist

Station: JCRC, Lubowa off Entebbe road, Kampala

Position Summary:

The technologists will mainly be involved in research areas of tuberculosis with or without related infecti ons. He/she will be expected to get familiar with and parti cipate in all laboratory activiti es, quality management and improvement plans, GCLP, GCP, PHS, CAP, and any related QA/QC literature relevant to the lab, as well as other JCRC acti viti es that pertain to the laboratory and it's Quality Management Plan. He/she should be willing to work extended hours in some cases weekends as may be needed, with minimal supervision. He/she will report to the Immunology Laboratory Supervisor.

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Biomedical Lab Sciences or equivalent with at least two years experience in a reputable medical insti tuti on, computer literate, registered with the Allied Health Professional's Council (AHPC) and Vaccinated against Hepati ti s B.

Duties:

Performing Lab assays according to Standard Operati ng Procedure; should be able to read and follow SOPs, sample recepti on and processing assays, PBMC isolati on, cold storage, cell culture, cell sorti ng, Flow cytometry ELISA, LUMINEX, and other technologies that may be introduced, sample storage, data entry, Parti cipate in Quality Improvement programs, Reagent preparati on, Ensure Safe Lab practi ces, Supplies management, Inventory and other duti es as assigned by the supervisor.
