Sunday Vision  today fulfilled its promise to host 20 winners of the Mother's Day competition and their mums to a luncheon at Royal Suites Hotel, Bugolobi, in Kampala.

The 20 were picked from hundreds of messages that Sunday Vision readers sent praising their mothers in commemoration of Mothers' Day. For 10 days, readers were asked to email us pictures and special messages to their mums.

Asked why Sunday Vision chose to celebrate mothers this way, Felix Osike, the Weekend papers editor, said: "Sunday Vision is a family paper where we celebrate and promote family values.  Mother's Day was an opportunity for us to connect with and give back to our valued readers. We were encouraging them to celebrate their mums."

Osike said although over 200 messages were sent in, this year, only 20 winners could be rewarded.

Hajara Batuuka, Vision's marketing manager, however said readers stand other chances to win in future. "Under our Sunday Vision brand, we always give back to readers on the various family occasions. We celebrate mums today but we shall have more giveaways during other family days," she said. She encouraged readers to always buy Sunday Vision and look out for other promotions.

Brenda Ahurira Nakiwogga, the marketing and sales manager at Royal Suites, said the hotel pulled out all the stops to give the winners a memorable event.

"We prepared a sumptuous tree-course meal which included starters, an African buffet and dessert," she said. Ahurira explained that the guests were hosted at the relaxing poolside where they enjoyed a cool breeze.

The 20 winners were Salma Kemigisha, Ritah Ariokot, Hoziana Niyonsaba, Esther Nahabwe, Carol Nyangoma, Shaitah Shelah, Vicky Kagona, Sandra Arinaitwe, Lydia Mugambe and Trice Roylyn Raizada.

Others are Hamza Ssali, Kenneth Kilaga, Patrick Muyanja, Victor Walts, Isaac Kajoba Kibigango, David Kavuma, Muhaise Wa Murisa, Prince Edyegu, Micheal Senfuka and Derrick Muleeba.
