Afridi's knock came off just 71 balls and had 10 sixes and seven fours, turning the momentum of a game that the Malaysians were bossing after setting 189/10 in their allotted overs.

Uganda were reeling at 32/3 in 15.3 overs and looking in real danger of failing to chase a very inviting target but Afridi, who starred with the ball for the Cricket Cranes against Singapore three days prior, was the saviour again.

This time, though, he did it with a brave display of opportunistic slogging. He might have been dropped twice before reaching his milestone but this was unforgettable batting, coming as it did in the furnace of intense pressure.

Afridi capped his innings with a four, cut through cover.

The win left Davis Karashani's men on two wins from two games and third on the standings ahead of Monday's final round robin games.

Uganda's chances of a top-two finish are slim, as they would need to defeat USA and one of Canada and Oman to slip-up in their Monday games. Even then, Uganda's poor net-run-rate means it will take two dramatic results for Steve Tikolo's men to reach the final.

Frank Nsubuga claimed 4/43 against Malaysia while Shazad Ukani and Arnold Otwani added 29 and 21 runs respectively for Uganda.

Malaysia were led by Shafiq Sharif, with a team-best 58 runs.
