Unknown to me that she was Hon. Nambooze, I insisted as her driver attempted to start the car. It was at that moment that the lady got my hand and bit me

Police in Mukono are investigating a case in which a security guard attached to Mukono Church of Uganda hospital, Godfrey Male (23) reported Mukono Municipality Member of Parliament, Betty Nambooze Bakireke for allegedly assaulting him.

When contacted on phone, Mukono division police officer in charge of crime, Ibrah Batasi acknowledged having received Male's case.

Batasi however denied to give a comment, saying new police guidelines bar him from addressing the media.

Male alleges that on Friday, May 19, while on duty at 8:30, he stopped a client and asked for the medical forms to clarify whether she had cleared the medical requirements but she refused to show him the forms.

"Unknown to me that she was Hon. Nambooze, I insisted as her driver attempted to start the car. It was at that moment that the lady got my hand and bit me. As I was inquiring why she decided to treat me like that, her driver came and started boxing me severely asking me whether I didn't know Hon. Nambooze!" explained Male saying as the boxing intensified, he ran away to call the nurses who were on duty.

Male adds that the nurses told him the lady was Hon. Nambooze and asked him to ask for forgiveness.

Male opened up an assault case against Naambooze and her driver as he is on treatment.

When contacted on phone for a comment, Nambooze declined to give a comment. The Mukono Church of Uganda hospital superintendent, Dr. Dickson Wabwire acknowledged having received the two parties (the security guard and the legislator) over the incident but declined to give any further comment.
