So this is how it ends on day one, a rude awakening for the Cricket Cranes, great start for Singapore and advantage Oman.

The hosts have endured a disappointing start to the ICC World Cricket League Division 3 and certainly no one could live with this.

Steven Tikolo and his boys were left dejected following a brutal 66 runs loss at the hands of Canada Tuesday at the Lugogo cricket oval.

Depth in the team, exposure and wit, is the Canada edge and consequently it could not have played any better as Uganda gave in to pressure.

With the rains forcing the game to play on reduced overs of 42, Canada would elect to bat first and all hail Rizwan Cheema, Canada's middle order batsman whose brutal 91 from  44 balls helped Henry Osinde's boys post  234, a score that that turned out impossible for the hosts to chase.

Henry Osinde no wonder remarked this was the turning point of the game

"He was really good and probably if it wasn't  for his display, we would have been restricted to maybe 170," Othieno said.

Deus Muhumuza "baby face" came close on getting rid of the 38 year old but only to drop the thunder ball which was headed for a six.

Chasing 235, Uganda's opening order failed to get things moving with Hamu Kayondo and Arthur Kyobe's  no show  performance was uncharacteristic of them. The two and first drop Arnold Otwani combined 8 runs.

However, Uganda showed some meager signs of recovery when Mohamed Afridi and Deus Muhumuza struck 31 and 30 respectively  but then it was not enough as Uganda were all out for 168.

"We made a lot of errors, we certainly didn't deserve to win but it is one game and we still have a chance of coming good again" Steven Tikolo, Uganda Cricket Cranes coach said.

The Cricket Cranes skipper meanwhile believes their loss has created a must win kind of approach to their next fixtures.

Next stop; Entebbe oval for Uganda's second game against Singapore who opened their campaign with a seven wickets win against Malaysia at  Kyambogo oval.
