The new development is against the backdrop of the sh45m sponsorship package offered by Mehta Group

ICC World Cricket League Division 3 (May 23-30)

The Cricket Cranes' kit for the ICC World Cricket League Division 3 has been redesigned.

The traditional yellow jerseys have given way for futuristic black attire with yellow and red stripes to reflect the national colours.

With an estimated cost of around $20,000 (shs725m) for the kit, guaranteed playing allowances and welfare, the national team is certainly enjoying a complete makeover

The results have also been impressive judging by the 4-0 whitewash of Kenya in the recent Easter Cup.

The new development is against the backdrop of the sh45m sponsorship package offered by Mehta Group to the Cricket Cranes on Saturday which will cater for players' allowances, the kit and welfare of the team.

"As Mehta Group, we are enjoying this partnership we started back in 2012 and I must say we are open to further assistance towards cricket in the country" said Mandar Rasaikar, the manager sales & marketing SCOUL, a subsidiary of Mehta Group.

During the launch of the new kit Tuesday at Lugogo Oval, the players further took the opportunity of reaffirming Ugandans of a good fight from the Cricket Cranes as they embark on the journey towards the cricket elites with a top two finish in the upcoming tournament, creating an opportunity to play in Division 2 to open up a chance of playing in the 2018 ICC World Cup Qualifiers.

"The team is ready to produce all that we can and with a good team plan, I believe we can achieve a good result from the tournament" said batsman Ham Kayondo.

With the tournament fast approaching, foreign teams are expected to start arriving at the end of this week with Oman expected on Thursday.
