The situation has forced some pregnant mothers to neglect facilities
Pregnant women in Wera Health Centre III in Wera Sub County, Amuria district deliver on beds without mattresses, health experts have revealed.
Prisca Ajengo, in charge of the maternity ward at the health centre, said that this has been caused by mattresses that have worn out.
She said that many of the beds in the facility were delivered years ago but have never been replaced.
According to her, the condition puts mothers and babies at risk during birth.
James Abura, the Wera LC3 chairperson said that the situation has forced some pregnant mothers to neglect the facility as the condition is alarming.
New Vision spoke to some of the pregnant mothers who expressed the need for government support.
