KAMPALA - With the new National Basketball League (NBL) season fast-approaching, defending champions City Oilers will take on five-time league winners Betway Power in what is anticipated to be an exciting opening game on May 19 at the MTN Arena, Lugogo.
Following the 2016 league championships, Mandy Juruni's Oilers thumped Power 78-46 to attain a fourth straight league victory since 2013.
However the two teams have since the end of last season made recruitments with Steven Omony joining the Oilers while Power have signed Sula Bbale.
The holders will look to the perfect start to their title defence while Power will be set to begin a campaign to upstage their rivals.
In the ladies' category, defending champions UCU Lady Canons will tussle it out with A1 Challenge in the first game of the 2017 season.
The Canons have won the last two championships.
