Uganda Police force chief, Gen. Kale Kayihura, has attacked a section of politicians and the media for its sensational reporting about the recent murder of Assistant Inspector General of Police, Felix Kaweesi.

Kayihura, who, together with state minister fort internal affairs Obiga Kania and majority of the Uganda Police's top echelon, was earlier today at parliament to interface with lawmakers siting on the defense and internal affairs committee over police's budget estimates for the next financial year.

"Why are you stampeding us? This investigation is being conducted professionally and scientifically. If you have information, pass it to us without sensationalizing things in media," Kayihura said in response to claims by Kivumbi that some of the suspects recently paraded before the media in connection with Kaweesi's murder had been in police custody before the murder.

Yesterday, Kivumbi had alleged that police was not forthright about its investigations on Kaweesi's murder - stopping short of accusing police of picking suspects from police cells and parading them as suspects in Kaweesi's murder.

During a stormy and a tad acrimonious interface that saw Kivumbi cross swords with committee chairperson, Judith Nabakoba, Kayihura described Kaweesi's murder as "a painful experience" that should not be sensationalized or politicized.

Kaweesi, a fast rising star in Uganda Police Force was murdered last month by unknown assailants riding on motorcycles.

A number of suspects have since been arraigned in court over the murder.
