After losing four times to Kenyan teams, the Ugandan side finally found a breakthrough when they registered a 3-1 victory over Kenya Four in game seven of the Zone 4.2 youth U16 team championship in Mombasa, Kenya.
Uganda lost their opening games in the first leg of the double round robin championships to Kenyan teams one, two, three and four.But managed to grab a draw with Tanzanian side.
The second leg of the champiopnships that started Thursday saw Uganda register another draw with Tanzania in game six and a win against Kenya Four in game seven.
Kenya Four had humiliated Olga Namwanje's team 4-0 in their first meeting. However, after getting regrouping, the youngsters would not make it any easier for their opponents.
The win over the Kenyan side was the first for Uganda in the 2017 games.
Team captain Denise Butungi, Marvin Bagonza and Pauline Biyinzika collected the three points as Uganda earned their first victory at the Zonal Championships.
Substitute Edgar Ampiire and Alicia Bwengye remain as the only players on the team without a point.
