Bukedea youth get brick-laying machine

Youth in Bukedea district have acquired a brick-laying machine in efforts to fight unemployment.

The machine used for making concrete bricks is the latest acquisition with support from the youth leadership in the area.

Speaking to this radio, Samuel Musoke the youth chairperson Bukedea says the initiative is one among the many they intend to use in fighting idleness among most youth in the district.

If put to proper use the hydro-foam machine hopes to boost close to three thousand jobs for the youth in the area.

The youth have also been encouraged to tap into meaningful and productive work that will help generate revenue for the district but also improve on their livelihoods.

According to the census report 2016, the country is still struggling with a high unemployment rate standing at 58%, despite efforts at creating employment through industrialization and operation wealth creation with most  youths blamed for wasting time in 'sports betting' and other forms of gambling.
