Ndejje Elites head coach Johnson Kawenyera has insisted that his team achieved the best they could have at the just concluded 2017 Africa Women Club Championships in Tunisia.

Ndejje fell short of their target to finish eighth out of 17 teams that competed in this year's championship.

Ndejje Elites played a total of six matches, winning matches against ASEC Mimosa but losing to Carthage of Tunisia and INJS of Cameroon in the group stage.

The women managed to beat ARSU of Seychelles, neighbours APR of Rwanda and FAP of Cameroon in the classification matches to finish 11th overall.

"We targeted eighth position (overall) but we fell short by a set. We lost it to INJS which is a very experienced side unlike us. We have to credit ourselves because we managed to make it to 11th despite our inexperience," said Kawenyera.

He argued that his student players were the most inexperienced, poorly financed and unprofessional compared to their opponents whose priority is playing the sport.

Ndejje Elites return Monday.
