Police issued a statement calling upon the media to desist from speculating as investigations into the incident continue

Uganda People's Defence Forces (UPDF) has distanced itself from reports that a senior army officer has been arrested over the recent murder of Andrew Felix Kaweesi and two other cops.

According to Brig. Richard Karemire, the UPDF spokesperson, investigations have not pointed to any army officer.

"No senior Army officer is apprehended in connection with the murder of AIGP Andrew Felix Kaweesi," he said.

Kaweesi, alongside his driver, Godfrey Wambewo and bodyguard Kenneth Erau, were shot dead by unknown assailants.

The trio was killed 100m from Kaweesi's home in Kulambiro, a Kampala suburb.

Police spokesperson, Asan Kasigye, has also issued a statement calling upon the media to desist from speculating as investigations into the incident continue.
