The Police and army have recovered the gun used in the recent shooting of the Kisoro-based businessman Stephen Semitwe.

The gun, according to the resident district commissioner, Shafiq Sekandi, has been discovered in Birembo village hidden in a bush, the village where Semitwe was shot from.

The recovery of the gun follows Thursday's search, where the army and the police searched residents' houses. Sekandi said the search may have compelled the holders of the gun to dump it in the nearby bush.

During the search, Paul Nkore, the Kigezi Regional Police Commander, blamed a section of locals for failure to report suspected thugs and this has in turn hindered the Police work in bringing the suspects to book.

"The Police work with information given out by citizens. If you fail to report, you will always suffer the consequences," he said.

Moses Byabagye, the Kigezi Regional Criminal Intelligence and Investigations detective, said the Police have arrested two suspects in connection to Semitwe's shooting.

He said during the search, forces have also discovered Police shoes and belts.
