President Yoweri Museveni yesterday held talks with the envoy of the UK Prime Minister to Uganda and Rwanda, Lord Popat.

During the meeting at Statehouse in Entebbe, Museveni stressed the need for the two countries to have a more detailed collaboration in the health sector to help Uganda manufacture medical drugs within the country.

He noted that the local manufacturing of medical drugs will make medicine cheaper and accessible. "We already have a factory for ARVs in the country but we need more pharmaceuticals," he said.

Museveni and Lord Popat also discussed a range of other issues including health, transport, electricity, education and agriculture. The President said those sectors constitute the main hardware and bottlenecks for the national development.

The President challenged the National Planning Authority in Uganda to explore the understanding and usefulness of the Private Sector Investment in order to justify why Uganda embraced privatization.
