FUFA BIG LEAGUE THURSDAY FOOTBALL
Kira United v Maroons (Namugongo)
Ndejje University v Doves All Stars (Luweero)
Nyamityobora v Synergy (Nyamityobora)
A win today for Maroons FC against Kira United on the road will draw them one other win closer to top-tier football - the Azam Uganda Premier League.
The Luzira outfit will face Kira in Namugongo in the Elgon Group.
Maroons top the group on 39 points, seven and nine above second and third-placed Ndejje University and Kira respectively.
They need two more wins to get into the top-flight. But Kira will be looking to frustrate that lift in a bid to revenge their first round 2-1 defeat to today's visitors.
After today's tie, Maroons will be left with three games. Ndejje will also have as many games remaining.
Elsewhere, second-placed Ndejje host Doves All Stars in Luweero.
In the Rwenzori Group, leaders Masavu who defeated Baza Holdings 1-0 on Wednesday, are also on the verge of being promoted to the premier league.
They only need to beat Kireka United next month to gain promotion. Three teams are promoted to the top flight.
At the end of the regular season, leaders from both groups (Elgon and Rwenzori) are promoted to the topflight automatically. The second and third teams in both groups go for play-offs to decide the other team to join the premier league.
