KCCA FC will face Egyptian side Al Masry SC in the play-off round of the CAF Confederation Cup following Tuesday's draws held in the Egyptian capital Cairo.

KCCA dropped into the Confederation Cup after being eliminated from the CAF Champions League by title-holders Mamelodi Sundowns of South Africa last Saturday.

The Ugandan side was only minutes away from making history by knocking out the defending champions at this stage, on top being the first Ugandan side to make it to the group stage of the competition.

But with ten minutes to go in the return leg at Philip Omondi Stadium in Kampala, Anthony Laffor scored the all-important equalizer that would scrape Sundowns through 3-2 on aggregate.

Vipers SC were the original Ugandan representative at the tournament but were knocked out by South African side Platinum Stars over two legs.

With focus now up north, Coach Mike Mutebi's side will host the first leg in Kampala on April 7 or 8.

The return leg will be played between April 14 and 16 in Egypt. The winner here will progress to the group stages.

Al Marsy got a walk-over to qualify to the next round after world football governing body FIFA suspended the Malian football federation.

Djoliba Athletic Club of Mali had beaten Al-Masry 2-0 at home in the first-leg.

Al Marsy is a former home for KCCA and Uganda Cranes legend Jackson Mayanja.
