She argues that preparing graduation ceremonies for nursery pupils is an expense to parents
Member of Parliament for Mukono Municipality Betty Nambooze Bakireke has asked nursery schools’ management to stop preparing graduation ceremonies for their outgoing top class pupils.
She says that such an occasion is supposed to be done for students who have completed higher institutions of learning and Universities as an achievement to show that they have qualified to start working.
"When these nursery pupils put on graduation gowns at that tender age they are not encouraged at all to continue with school because they think that is the end of it all yet at that stage they haven’t moved even an inch in education.
I am requesting all nursery schools managements to stop preparing graduation ceremonies for these children so that they can be encouraged to read hard and wear the graduation gown when they have really completed higher education" Nambooze said.
She said this while officiating at the graduation party of Joachim Matovu son of the Defence secretary Emmanuel Matovu of Kiwanga LC1 Goma Sub-county at his residence in Kiwanga - Mukono District over the weekend who graduated with a bachelor’s degree of Arts in Archeology (The study of human activity through the recovery and analysis of material culture)from Makerere University.
Nambooze added preparing graduation ceremonies for nursery pupils is an expense to parents which in turn is not profitable at all in case the pupil stops at that level of education because the certificates issued are irrelevant.
