Ruth Nankabirwa the government Chief Whip, has warned voters against overburdening Members of Parliament saying it make hampers their ability to legislate in Parliament.

She was speaking as the chief mourner at the burial of the Toroma County MP, Cyrus Amodoi Imalingat, at his ancestral home in Kanapa Village, Magoro Sub County in Katakwi district.

Nankabirwa urged voters to allow MPs to play their role of legislation in Parliament rather than disrupting them by having to attend burials and marriage ceremonies in their constituencies.

She however urged the MPs to spend with their voters during recess and over the weekends.

“You put too much pressure on MPs. Allow the MPs settle in Parliament and do their work of legislating. You get married on a Thursday and want Musa Ecweru (MP Amuria District) to be at your wedding when he is supposed to be in cabinet,” Nankabirwa said.

Following outcry from Katakwi and Teso leaders, Nankabirwa promised to resolve the Angisa land conflict with Uganda Wildlife Authority, insecurity caused by the Karimojong raiders, food shortage and support for the family of the late Amodoi especially his children.
