Sentamu gets boost ahead of Motocross 2

NATIONAL MOTOCROSS CHAMPIONSHIP

Motocross youngster Fortune Ssentamu will now be able to compete in the second round of the National Motocross Championship at the Victoria Race Track, Garuga this Sunday.

Ssentamu, who dropped out of the first round in January in the second heat due to mechanical problems, received sh730, 000 from National Council of Sports (NCS) to fix the clutch problem.

"Yes we received the money ($200) to purchase the spares which we did and we are ready for the challenge from the riders in our class," said Dabella Apolot.

Ssentamu, 13, is the reigning national champion in the 85cc category and will face a formidable opposition in the form of opposition from Omar brothers Wazir and Waleed Omar, Ben Nsumba Joshua Mwangala and Paddy Blick Jr.

Nsumba, who finished second in last year's championship, is Ssentamu's biggest threat and targets winning this year's event especially after acquiring a KTM 2017 model bike.

Over 60 riders will be competing in the various classes on Sunday which include,50cc Junior, 50cc, 65cc, 85cc,MX125cc ,MX2 and the MX1 open class which has senior riders Arthur Blick Jr, Maxime van Pee, Barak Orland and Asaf Natan.
