Swimming: Greenhill reclaims primary schools title

Mar 13, 2017

Kampala Parents School and Seeta Junior School finished 2nd and 3rd respectively

Greenhill amassed 2001 points to win the third edition of the USF National Midland Primary Schools Swimming Gala held at Rainbow International School on Saturday.

The absence of defending champions Daffodils had Greenhill easily reclaim the championship they last won in 2015.

Jude Kivumbi set the pace for Greenhill when he edged out Kampala Parents School's Gabriel Olaki in the 10 year olds' 100m Individual Medley race that he won by 1 micro second (1:50.20).

That gold was followed by others from Esther Atto in the girls (11-12) years' category, in a similar race over the same distance, Joan Opolot, Crystal Ntegeka, Christine Adoch and Martin Rutaiyisire in the 7, 8 and 9 years category respectively of the 25m breaststroke races.

Simon Nkesiga and Darren Mukisa added two more for Greenhill in the 10-12 years categories, before the champions swept all the 100m Medley Relays in all age categories.

Runners up Kampala Parents School had Sanyu Kagugube with a golden performance in the opening 100m IM race where she beat Cathy Nakiyingi and Angel Siima to the gold in a time of 1:38.47.
