Verdict in Sheikh Kamoga terror trial expected before Easter

Tabliq Muslim sect leader, Sheikh Yunus Kamoga, will know before Easter whether allegations that he is a terrorist, have an iota of truth, that necessitate him to defend himself.

On Monday, Justice Ezekiel Muhanguzi said the panel of judges, which he leads, would give a resolution on April 4. The other judges are Jane Kiggundu and Percy Night Tuhaise.

Kamoga is among the 14 men, who are jointly also accused of murder of sheikhs Ibrahim Kirya and Mustafa Bahiga. Easter Sunday is on April 16.

Murder is outlawed under Section 188 and 189 of Uganda's Penal Code Act (PCA).

Kamoga and co-accused allegedly conspired on December 28, 2014, to murder Sheikh Mustafa Bahiga at Bwebajja, Wakiso district.

They purportedly also plotted and murdered Kirya on June 30, 2015 at Bweyogerere Trading Centre in Wakiso.
