The Chinese embassy in Kampala asked the Uganda Police to expedite investigations into the murder of two of its nationals

Police is hunting for a prime suspect, a Chinese electrical engineer (names withheld) operating in Uganda over the murder of two Chinese women, police authorities have revealed.

The Police's Flying Squad Unit (FSU) recovered two decomposing bodies of Ren-Ju, 33 and Sang-Weng-Wa, 34 from a rented house in Kikoni near Makerere University in Kampala, last week.

The Chinese embassy in Kampala asked the Uganda Police to expedite investigations into the murder of two of its nationals in what the Inspector General of Police, Gen. Kale Kayihura, described as a mafia like assassination.

Kayihura, who visited the scene, said the deceased were killed by stabbing and the hunt for the prime suspect, said to be a Chinese, had commenced.

Yesterday, operatives probing the case raided a hideout (names withheld) allegedly belonging to the suspect but hit a snag. A source privy the investigation told New Vision, that the raid followed a telephone-print out tracking of the suspect's last location.

At the location, the source said Police recovered material allegedly linking the suspect to the profession (electrical engineering). By press time, Police Scene of crime officers had cordoned off the area, as they gathered evidence among them finger-print lifting.

A team of elite detectives, comprising of Uganda's best Police Information Technology Specialists, telephone trackers and combat operatives including China Police are probing the matter.

The FSU commandant Herbert Muhangi who is at the helm of the investigations declined to divulge details of the probe, but said they have good clues linking to the suspect's arrest.

The Police spokesperson Felix Kaweesi could not be reached for comment as he was part of the delegation sent to meet with counterparts of East Africa Police Chiefs Cooperation Organisation in neighboring Rwanda.

"We have asked the Uganda Police to try their best to bring the criminal suspect to justice as soon as possible," said Feng Lin, the spokesperson of the Chinese embassy.

At the scene, Kayihura, however, told journalists that the embassy and the "The Police found two bodies of the Chinese at 3:00am, which now remains a scene of crime," Kayihura told journalists outside the red-tile roofed semi-detached house.

The house in Kikoni, one of the slums near the university, belongs to one Gava. Kayihura said an official from the Chinese embassy on Saturday reported a case at Jinja Road Police Station of two missing persons.

Preliminary investigations, he said, indicate that a Chinese man had rented the house on Wednesday last week and paid a deposit of sh1m to the caretaker of the house.

The Police declined to disclose the identities of the female caretaker, saying she was a witness in the case and wanted to protect her privacy.

Kayihura said detectives were also investigating some leads, indicating that the murderer had demanded a ransom and sent a text message on WeChat, which the Police are following. WeChat is a free, instant messaging application popular with Chinese language users.

While the IGP stated that Ren-Ju worked as a waitress at Club 7 in Kololo, New Vision instead found out that she stayed at Plot 7 on Impala Avenue in a private home owned by a Chinese national.

A worker at the home disclosed that Ren-Ju had stayed at the place for two months. He said she was picked by a Chinese man who came and parked outside in a car at about 4.00pm.

According to the IGP, Sang-WengWa was a waitress at the Chinese Business Hotel in Industrial Area. But authorities (receptionist) at the same location, said she was not aware of any missing employee.
