Nambooze intent on contesting for DP presidency

"If I don’t start campaigning now for the post of DP president to create a firm foundation for our DP members to stay in the party, it will soon melt away slowly by slowly”

Mukono Municipality Member of Parliament, Betty Nambooze Bakireke, has declared her intention to run for the Democratic Party presidency.

Nambooze said its time she fights people who pretend that they are ‘bad' DP members yet they are ‘good' DP members.

By this she meant that ‘bad' DP members are those who don't listen to what President Yoweri Museveni asks them to do and the ‘good' DP members are those who listen to all of his requests.

Nambooze said Museveni promised to destroy opposition parties especially DP members by fishing out the strong ones and that he has started with Nakiwala Kiyingi who is now Minister of State for Youth and Children Affairs and he recently also appointed Mohamed Kezaala as a deputy ambassador.

"This means if I don't start campaigning now for the post of DP president to create a firm foundation for our DP members to stay in the party, it will soon melt away slowly by slowly" Nambooze said.

She made the remarks at a Valentines' party she organized for her campaign managers and supporters at Seeta Gardens in Mukono.

At the same occasion Nambooze attacked the Mukono mayor, George Fred Kagimu, who is also a DP member for cooperating with people she called ‘murderers' because they beat up her supporters during last year's campaigns.

"I am so disappointed with Kagimu for cooperating with those murderers who wanted to kill my supporters and yet they are the same supporters who helped him to get the mayorship" she said.

"If I get to the post of DP president, I am going to decampaign such people when they stand for any political seat nationally on behalf of the party" Nambooze added.
