The National Council of Sports has instructed the Uganda Olympic Committee (UOC) to stop their elections on Saturday until further notice following complaints from one of their members.

The decision follows a petition by Uganda Boxing Federation (UBF) citing irregularities.

The current UOC president William Blick is competing against Denis Mbidde.

NCS board meeting chaired by Bosco Onyik said in a January 25 letter, that the presiding officer was appointed by Blick who has interest in the elections.

"Some of the members designated to vote are not recognized by NCS. We therefore instruct them to halt the elections until the issues of the presiding officer and the illegitimate voters are sorted out," Onyik said.

Candidates for the presidency are Denis Mbidde and Blick.
