The Uganda Olympic committee (UOC) elections meant to take place on January 28 are in balance after disqualified candidates went to court to stop the elections from taking place.

The petitioners filed a case in the High Court Civil Division alleging that UOC is letting unregistered federations take part in the elections.

According to an official, UOC has been listed in the case as respondents. City Advocate AF Mpanga will represent UOC.

Returning officer Sim Katende last week disqualified four candidates including Godfrey Nyakana and William Tumwine from the elections. Nyakana was vying for the Vice President post whileTumwine wanted the post of secretary general.

"We cannot have the people in the administration managing the elections and besides I have not received any formal communication indicating my disqualification," Nyakana stated.

Tumwine was meant to stand against Dr.Donald Rukare, while Nyakana was standing against Ambrose Tashobya.
