Driving schools urged on road signs

Despite a lack of road signs on the highways, the Officer in charge of traffic,the police has urged driving schools to put more emphasis on teaching road signs.

Jesa Police Station Inspector of Police Gadi Kamani made the appeal on Friday during Federation of Motorsports Club (FMU) road safety campaign on Mityana road.

"Our biggest challenge is that there are no road signs and even drivers don't know the road signs  and that is the major cause of accidents," Kamani stated.

He lauded FMU for the initiative saying that the campaign is good because drivers and passengers will change.

"Drivers and passenger have a negative attitude towards police, but if we join hands together this way we can help save the lives of many Ugandans," Kamani explained.

FMU president Dusman Okee said that the road safety campaign is part of fulfilment of the world motorsport governing body policy on road safety.
