It's time to pull down those Christmas decorations

Jan 13, 2017

"If you have finished celebrating like on the 26th, remove everything and clean the place. We get tired of seeing decoration from November till January,”

Christmas passed, gifts were unwrapped and New Year' eve also passed but there're people who still have Christmas decoration up in their offices and homes. Just walk past pioneer mall in Kampala, you will be welcomed by a big word: Merry Christmas. Really, at this time of the year?

Joshua Kalyango of Namave garage advises people to always pull down their trees and decoration immediately after Christmas.

"I always see people with decorated trees till January 1st but that is not allowed. If you have finished celebrating like on the 26th, remove everything and clean the place. We get tired of seeing decoration from November till January," says Kalyango.

Kalyango also says if someone enters your office and find that Christmas tree in the corner of the room, he or she will not take you serious, they might think that you are still in the festive season mood.

Aidah Nakitto says that if you opt for a natural tree instead of an artificial one, you are supposed to take it down just after Christmas.

"Not only trees. I passed by former pride theater and I saw lights up, they should be down by now. Unless when you have a mega party coming up soon. If you have a real tree, it is better it goes down even on that very day of Christmas in the evening because it always has sagging branches. You need to clean the area where the tree was," says Nakitto.

Nakitto also says that to give your home or workplace space a new look in the New Year, you need to wrap up those trees, lights and paper decorations.
