Oil body appoints Nkambo general manager

The Uganda Refinery Holding Company Limited (URHC) appointed its first general manager Dr. Michael Nkambo Mugerwa.

Irene Batebe, the board chairperson Uganda Refinery Holding Company Limited said Mugerwa is a chemical engineer with over 20 years' experience in the oil refining industry.

URHC is a subsidiary of the Uganda National Oil Company.

Mugerwa has vast experience in process engineering, project management, project controls, risk management and oil refinery technologies. He has managed Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) aspects of large capital refining projects while working for TECHNIP (USA), a leading EPC contractor for the oil, gas and petrochemical industries.

"Dr. Mugerwa will be tasked with leading the structuring and development of the first oil refinery in Uganda. He has built competencies in technology, business and innovation and has experience in start-ups in the oil and gas sector. The URHC will benefit from his leadership, international network and strong technical and project management skills," Batebe said.

Mugerwa holds a PhD. Master of Science and Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering all obtained from the University of Manchester. United Kingdom.
