Hosts Uganda are just one win away from retaining the Zone VB International Handball Federation in the men's category when they play against Rwanda in the final today (Wednesday) at the UCU, Mukono.

The defending champions cruised into the final following a cut-and-thrust semifinal where they narrowly overcame Kenya 34-33 on Tuesday.

It was a slender lead but enough to earn Uganda a place in the final against Rwanda, a side that has had a good run en route to the final, beating South Sudan 44-30 in the preliminary stages.

Ismail Kisalita scored a brutal 12 goals to help his side through for a third successive final.

Francis Ongom was also on the mark with seven goals as Wasswa Ssebuguzi chipped in with five.

Victor Serubiri and Dan Adoku struck a hattrick apiece as Jonathan Atandu, Abbas Mwanje, Sharif Lukwago and Michael Okello wrapped up Uganda's victory with a goal each.

Kevi Imo and Isaac Kalooli stood out for the travelling side , scoring 10 and 8 respectively.

The hosts are on a revenge mission following a 44-29 defeat by Rwanda earlier in the tournament.

The women's category which has been played on a round robin basis will have Uganda play Kenya in a winner-takes-it-all clash.
