A first Source of the Nile junior golf tour

Between 150 and 200 kids from various clubs in the country have confirmed participation in the championship.

All roads will lead to the famous 9 Hole Jinja Golf Club where the latter will host the long-awaited first edition of the Source of the Nile national youths golf tournament this Saturday.

Program proprietor Brian Toolit confirmed that a total of between 150 and 200 kids from various clubs in the country have confirmed participation in the championship, with the hosts being represented by over 75 youths.

Edwin Okwong, 17, is a national youth product who featured in the recent World Junior Championships. He will lead a contingent of over 40 participants from Lugazi Golf Club.

Kitante Golf Club will be represented by 20 participants as well as last year's hosts Entebbe who are all expected to have  more competitive participants in both boys and girls categories of different age groups .

Jinja Club's Albert Sperling who was among the club's best highlight in last year's championships at Entebbe is too expected to feature. The 12-year-old youngster has already featured in two major senior tournaments (Kakira open and Lugazi) where he put in a magnificent performance in the men's group C category .

''I scored a net of 77 and came fourth in this year's Kakira Open group C category, so playing in the youths category will be another stroll in the park for me. I feel I can win my category this time," he said.

"'We are working hand in hand with the UGU Junior development in-charge Oscar Ssemawerere  and Jinja golf captain Joseph Nkuruziza to see that this championship is successful ,''said Toolit.
